1840’s Lobster

During the early days of commercial Maine lobstering in the 1840’s, the season was only four months long – starting March 1st and ending the 4th of July. The going price was 3 cents a lobster in March, 2 ½ cents in April and 2 cents in May and June, and the average lobster size was 3 pounds!
