Police say 288 cases of crab meat stolen from a cold-storage facility could be bad for consumers’ health. The $85,000 worth of canned crab meat was being held on orders of federal inspectors because it may contain an unapproved animal antibiotic. The Little River Lump Crab meat could not be sold until it was inspected further. The pallets of crabmeat cases may have been stolen more than a week ago from the Wanchese Fish Company cold storage facility. The Food and Drug Administration was expected to announce lot numbers and provide other information today. Little River Seafood is based in Reedville, Virginia.
