Rock Lobster
The New South Wales Government has seized more than 900 rock lobsters that were caught illegally off the state’s mid-north coast. A commercial fishermen is due to appear in court today to face allegations he took almost a ton of lobsters from waters near Port Macquarie. The haul was valued at more than $60,000. Primary Industries Minister Ian Macdonald says it is the biggest illegal haul ever confiscated in the state. “This is an extraordinarily large illegal take and I’m just glad that we’ve been able to so effectively and efficiently get hold of this person and release these rock lobsters back into the waters,” he said.
