Lobster Truck Gets Stuck Under Bridge

The fire department had to jack up a tractor-trailer loaded with lobster yesterday afternoon after it became stuck as it entered Sandwich Road from a steep incline, a fire official said. The call for help came in at 1:30 p.m. from a business on Sandwich Road just under the Sagamore Bridge, according to Bourne fire Deputy Chief Daniel Doucette. The driver of the tractor-trailer used an unfamiliar exit from the business onto the road, and as the truck leveled off, its 50-gallon fuel tank became lodged between the truck and the road, immobilizing the vehicle and tying up traffic for at least an hour, Doucette said. Firefighters jacked up the truck with the Jaws of Life, unloaded the fuel and then moved the truck back out of the road, Doucette said.
