Mass Lobster Poisioning

Police are investigating the deliberate poisoning of nearly 40-thousand pounds of live lobster at a pound in Meteghan, N.S. Police say it appears someone drilled holes into the building, located on the Meteghan Wharf Road on July 25 and pumped an unknown toxin into the holding tanks. Sgt. Michel LaCroix says technicians from Environment Canada and the RCMP crime lab are involved in determining the substance that killed the lobsters. The dead crustaceans have been trucked to a local compost facility and the contaminated water they were in will be disposed of off site. The loss is estimated at over $200,000.
